Continuum
Site Specific Dance piece

Site-specific creation directed by Beatriz Silva & Anastasia Kapra, performed by Instável Companhia as part of the dance and architecture festival “Percursos pela Arquitetura 2024”. A series of site-specific performances at Faculty of Architecture FAUP, Porto, PT, in collaboration with the Instável - Choreographic and the Faculty of Architecture - University of Porto, under the program FOCAR ( Formação Orientada em Coreografia para Arquitetura)
Continuum is a Site-specific performance for one of the rock made staircases, in the outside venues of FAUP. With the idea of a continuous space that creates and pulsates a rhythm every time you move in it, the trio of performers plays with the different distances and perspectives that they can relate with the audience during the performance. A hole in the ground, a slope of rocks, one step after another. A space that creates a rhythm every time you move in it, becomes a performative space for a very physical trio dance piece, which also reveals the daily dynamics of safety and insecurity in this hidden and camouflaged space that we usually find in urban spaces in our cities, stairways with little light and little external visibility.
A rhythmic dialog of shared experiences, in which the simplicity of everyday life becomes a choreographic score. The female performers move in the darkness of a staircase between shadow and light and find safety in the eyes of each other and the audience.
